Oak Hill "Star" Employees
September 2008
Michelle Garvin, RN
Michelle joined Oak Hill Hospitals Cardiac Catheterization Recovery Unit in March of 2007. She is a Registered Nurse and takes care of the patients before and after cardiac catheterization procedures. Michelles nomination came from a patient who had come to Oak Hill for a procedure. He asked that Michelle be recognized for the wonderful care she provided, specifically noting how compassionate she was and how she was able to reduce his anxiety over the procedure about to be performed. For her part Michelle says she truly enjoys the patients and the people she works with at Oak Hill Hospital. Michelle lives in Spring Hill with her seven year old son JR.
Jamie Oliver, PCA (Patient Care Assistant)
Jamie joined Oak Hill Hospital in January of this year. She initially floated to the second, fourth and fifth floors but now works in our Medical Unit as a Patient Care Assistant where, in her words, I greet the patients, get their vitals, and I take care of most of their needs. Jamies nomination came from coworkers who are truly grateful for her dedication to her job and especially the patients. Jamie works the 11PM to 7 AM shift where she is often the only Patient Care Assistant supporting the nurses. She works diligently with a positive attitude all night, sometimes without a break. She is compassionate and efficient and truly deserves a caring Star Award. Jamie says that she particularly appreciates her night shift team. We all work together and take care of each other. She and her husband Robert live in Spring Hill with their three children, Amber, 7, Alyssa, 4, and Robert, 2.
Debbie Mattingly, Phlebotomist
Debbie joined Oak Hill Hospitals laboratory in September of 1996. She is a phlebotomist whose primary duty is to draw blood and assist with a variety of administrative duties. She has also worked in the adjacent pathology department doing charting. Debbies nomination came from fellow associates who cited her teamwork and commitment to her fellow coworkers. We were very busy and no one else could get into the department to help us one day. Debbie really helped the technician out with processing, which takes up a lot of time. With Debbies help the nurses and doctors were able to receive results as quickly as possible. For her part Debbie says she loves the family atmosphere. And speaking of family, Debbies family includes son Greg, 25, daughters Heather, 22, and Heidi, 20, son-in-law Gary, 19, granddaughter Hannah, 3, and grandsons Glen, 2, and Joshua, who just entered the world. Debbie lives in Bushnell.
